4 ways to practice self-care this Saturday

Updated: May 9, 2020

Self-care Saturday Tips

Six ways to rejuvenate

1. Get outside. Going into the outdoors

Going outside, particularly into green areas, increases feelings of well-being. Even just going for a 20 to 30 minute walk can lessen worry and overthinking (also called rumination) and help you think clearer and feel more relaxed.

2. Take a shower or bath

Washing one’s body is an important part of self-care. This concept has been very commercialized and all you need is a simple shower with what you have. There is no need to add all the bells and whistles. Hygiene is a key to health and healthy routine. It is important when practicing self-care to try simple things. Small actions can make a big impact on mood and health such as washing and bathing.

3. Make some art

Making art and being creative

Art is an important part of self-expression and processing. Whether it be through dance, music, drawing, crafting, mosaics, etc. creating artistic expression can help us bond with ourselves and others.

4. Prayer and/or Meditation

Prayer and meditation are fabulous ways to rejuvenate ourselves. Whether it be through a religious or spiritual practice or just trying things out and having fun, it is just as important to take care of our spirit as it is our mental and physical selves. If you don’t have a practice already, try looking up guided meditations or mindfulness techniques.
